Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo is truly one of nature’s wonder materials. It is extremely fast-growing, yet produces “timber” that is very strong and hard. Bamboo’s rapid growth rate (reaching full maturity in around 4-5 years) makes this a remarkably eco-friendly material. The older stems can be harvested annually without killing the plants, and without leaving a stripped and naked landscape. This sustainable harvesting model has won international recognition. Bamboo forests require no pesticides or fertilisers. They also absorb more CO2 and produce more oxygen than equivalent hardwood timber forests. In fact, bamboo has a net positive carbon footprint; the bamboo plants absorb more CO2 whilst growing than is released during their harvesting and manufacture of the bamboo boards. It is also worth noting that bamboo boards are manufactured with no VOC (volatile organic compounds) and comply with all USA and EU environmental requirements.

Bamboo boards and panels exhibit beautiful warm colours and have an interesting and attractive grain pattern. The rich, clean look of bamboo is perfect for modern interiors, and blends well with other modern materials. Bamboo has very similar physical characteristics to quality hardwood timber, and is also comparably priced.
